On Wednesday, 7th March 2018 Ash Dykes, his team members and members of the public gathered to announce and celebrate the upcoming record-breaking World First that would be Ash's 2018 - 19 annual-spanning expedition, traversing the Yangtze River on foot.
The Challenge
The longest river in the world to flow through a single country. Its length had never been walked before.
In 2018 Ash attempted, and succeeded his greatest expedition yet, as he walked from the Yangtze's source in the melt waters of the Jianggendiru Glacier on the Tibetan Plateau to its delta near Shanghai, where it meets the East China Sea.
Ash faced many trials, starting with freezing temperatures in the West, which broke into a more tropical environment to the East.

The severity of this 6,437km challenge was not to be underestimated.
Throughout Ash's estimated 8 million step exploration, he came across some of natures most intimidating experiences. From being in close proximity to snakes and bears, wolves to asian hornets - the isolating weather-ranging and isolating challenge pushed all of Ash's strengths to the limit.
Examining the sheer length, difficulty of terrain, isolation, climate, and multitude of dangers made this concept for a mission highly intense and engaging to follow.
